Mackenzie N. Eisenhour

Born in Brussels, Belgium in 1976 then raised in Norway and France, Mackenzie first stepped on a skateboard in 1986 in Nice, France. Following a move to Los Angeles at 17 to attend UCLA—where he recieved his BFA in graphic design—he first worked as art director for LA 36 then Antix.com before eventually finding himself associate editor at Skateboarder Magazine from 2001-2004.

After returning to France in the Fall of 2004 to resume work as an art director in Paris at GPG, then as a marketing consultant to Hurley Europe in Barcelona, Spain, Mackenzie became staff writer for Transworld SKATEboarding in 2005. In 2008, he returned with his wife to Los Angeles—releasing Cliché Skateboards 10-Year-Anniversary book, Résumé, and worked as marketing manager for Stereo Sound Agency through 2011. In 2015 he became associate editor at Transworld (TWS). In 2023, his book 1000 Skateboards was published by Rizzoli/Universe in English and by Editions La Martiniére in French. In 2024, he remains a contributing editor, works freelance, and runs his Instagram handle @deadhippie - home to the #skatenerdstarmaps. His writing has been published in Vapors Magazine, Sugar Magazine, The Skateboarder's Journal, SBJ Australia, Scion Magazine, Monster Magazine, Carhartt Rugged Magazine, Toyota Today, Kia Open Road, Urban Outfitters Journal, WestJet Airlines Magazine, Jenkem, Slam City Skates, Red Bulletin Magazine, Huck Magazine, Free Skate Magazine, Skateboarder Magazine, and Transworld SKATEboarding.
